If you choose to design your own Foam Inlay or Shadow Board, the first step in the OSAAP workflow is to create your Board in BlueShadow.
Step One: Click the Board ICON on the top right corner of the home page in Black Shadow.
NOTE: You can go back to Board ICON any time to change all your selections during the design process and your design will be updated.
Step Two: Enter the Width and Depth of your Foam Inlay or Shadow Board (only mm units are avalible at this time)
Step Three: Click the icon that represents the color and thickness of the material you would like to use for your Foam Inlay or Shadow Board project.
NOTE: We stock 30mm, 60mm, 90mm thick material. If you select another size or specify a custom size in the notes there is an additonal charge for the second milling step required.
Step 4: Use the drop-down boxes for additional preferences for your Foam Inlay or Shadow Board project.
The "Using As" option is an essential tolerance setting to be noted carefully. The two options are:
- Standard +1: We add 1mm to the dimension of the cut-out to ensure a slip fit for the parts. This setting is recommended for all foam that will be used on a flat surface (e.g. in a tool drawer).
- Klasse 0 (Klasse is German for Class): We add no tolerance space to the dimension of the cut-out to ensure a press fit for the parts. This setting is recommended when the foam will be mounted and the tools must be held firmly in place by the foam.
The image below displays the Standard +1 tolerance application to the milling process.
Step Five: Fill in the remaining fields and finalize by clicking the "Create Board" button.
